Monsoon Bath Pump - playing up

Correction to that, I did do it. It's a known fault, the capacitor does not last forever, they do need replacing. The true cost of a start capacitor is pennies, it is a good call out to put one in.

Monsoon Bath Pump - playing up

The pump has two motor windings, one to start the motor spinning the other to keep it spinning. The start capacitor stores enough power momentarily to spin the start windings with enough torque to get it going, then cuts out and the second winding carries on. It probably is on its way out...

Monsoon Bath Pump - playing up

I had this exact same problem two weeks ago, The start capacitor has burnt out. The part from Stuart Turner is about £29. Take the old one out and take it to maplins and you can get a replacement capacitor for about £5. It may be slightly larger but you can adapt it slightly and fit it...

Stuart Turner Monsoon Universal 4 bar twin - HUNTING

www.stuart-turner.co.uk/where-to-buy/spares-finder/46294/17 Perhaps the pressure switch got wet when you had the leak. These pumps are so well made, that I would question whether the engineer who replaced the pump, changed it for a new one. Parts are easily obtained and repairs are normally...

Stuart Turner Monsoon Universal 4 bar twin - HUNTING

Doitall, can a thermostatic/mixer valve on a shower let water by even with the thermostatic valve being visually shut. Thinking out loud I know, but could it allow water to be pumped back the wrong way, into the header tank! making the pump hunt.

Stuart Turner Monsoon Universal 4 bar twin - HUNTING

Oh and also, although you can pump the WC, it's not the best thing to happen when you flush late at night and the pump kicks in. Plumb it back to the mains if possible.

Stuart Turner Monsoon Universal 4 bar twin - HUNTING

Taken straight from Stuart Turner web site. Having taken my Universal pump out the other day to replace the start capacitor, I have had a very small leak on the flexible pipe connections. The so called easy fix/ push in plastic bit on the end of the pump hose. It was very difficult to tell...

    Stoves Gas Oven

Sorry but I seem to be missing something here. Why do you turn the oven off before you open the door to see what's happening to your dinner. Then if after doing that, as you say, if you turn it back on, gas is coming out but not sparking, sounds completely dangerous to me, as after 10mins it...

pipework for central heating - is this work OK?

What an improvement. It's got to have been worth the effort and heart ache, to have the satisfaction of knowing the pipe work, although hidden, looking the part. Just make a good mental note of where all the pipework is, as when hanging the portrait of your plumber on the wall - he doesn't...

2 port valves on new central heating? required?

http://www.ukplumbersforums.co.uk/central-heating-forum/22603-please-clarify-part-l-requirements-zoning-small-properties-2.html Reading this looks like you do need 2 zones for the regs. What a lot of effort then just to control your landing area!

2 port valves on new central heating? required?

Don't know the right's or wrong's re regs, but IMHO, trv's in bedrooms must be the best way to go, as each individual can adjust temperature to what they like!

Two toilets on same soil pipe problem

Is the centre line of the waste outlet in the old family WC above the level of the horizontal pipe going left to new WC position. (Like Nige F's suggested Marley drwg.) Or is it level with pipe and suffering from back wash from new WC position when that is flushed. Apart from a...

Advice on puchasing a new close coupled toilet

I have put in many replacement 'B&Q loo's in a box' with no problem. Having said that however, two installed had leaks which was impossible to tell when installing. The pan when cast in two parts, is 'slippered' together and when fired in kiln, crack. Small hairline cracks caused water to...
