    Fixings for Stramit/Straw Board

Hi all, What fixings are best to use in horrible 60's strawboard, assuming I can't afford a resin fixing kit (70-odd quid  )? It's to put a small radiator back on the wall it came off before decorating. The rawlplugs used by the original fitters have (predictably) fallen out...

    Mains Halogen Dimmer Buzz

The only ones I have really seen so far that take the energy savers are some 4-way fittings I got from Lidl for the kitchen (v.good for the price - came with ES bulbs for £15!). As you say the majority of efforts are still designed for the shallow halogens (and way overpriced at that).

    Mains Halogen Dimmer Buzz

Thanks for your quick and detailed reply ericmark. A plain old switch it is then! TBH we were likely to dim the lights only on the odd occasion so it's no great loss. Knew about the phase-out, but for some odd reason I hadn't thought it would include tungsten-halogen lights.

    Mains Halogen Dimmer Buzz

A quick search tells me this topic this has been done a thousand times, but I can't find a specific answer to my question, so here goes... 4 x 50W GU10 mains halogens (brand new light fitting) on a cheap Marbo dimmer... dimmer buzzes like hell unless lights on full. Fair enough, cheap...

Your opinion on Leyland acrylic gloss?

After a bit of research I went for Johnstone's acrylic eggshell. With some practice and a couple of false starts I managed to get it fairly even. Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but good enough for 40yo cheapo council doors. Hats off to you pros though. I consider myself an...

Your opinion on Leyland acrylic gloss?

Got two tins of this stuff to do interior woodwork and doors. Our hallway gets almost zero daylight, and the missus likes to crank the heating, so I wanted something non-yellowing. Thing is it's like feckin cheese. It'll keep a wet edge but only if you're painting a line 2" wide. I got...

Wall-mounting 8x4 mirrors for fitness studio

Cheers for responses. Can't have them fixed directly to the wall, as they need to be removable. Also the wall isn't even close to being flat and I know the plaster-work is dodgy so although I completely trust mirror adhesive, I wouldn't trust the skim not to come away. So, in short...

Wall-mounting 8x4 mirrors for fitness studio

Hi folks, Having a bit of a crisis of confidence with a mirror wall. Never worked with huge sheet glass before and I'm starting to think I might've bitten off more than I can chew. I wonder if anyone in the know can tell me it'll (probably) be alright, or if not point me in the right...
