    Backfilling around compression fittings?

Best torch imo. But as long as the joint has flowed and taken and then cleaned up... All is good and the tools used matter not.

Getting gas brough up side of drive way and told i need a plinth at box. Why?

Yep... Translated as... Plinth projects further than brickwork and the box and supply pipe need to be on the same plane. So, either chop a channel in the plinth flush with brickwork or build/pack out the brickwork to flush with plinth.

Your help required ... Johnson & Starley Economaire 65 not heating

What was their response to being asked about sending out notices to residents, prior to the works? I would be pursuing this as they are both large national utilities companies and have codes of practice. I can't see how they wouldn't have to inform residents of such works... That would have...

    Is my radiator leaking?

Well... Like most things Plumbing... If it did, you just put it back on... Sharpish! ;)

    Radiator Sludge

If you persevere against a national organisation, like you are doing, you will ultimately win, just for them to get you to leave them alone ;)

Or you could ask EDF/CADENT if any such correspondence was sent out. It just seems obvious to me that changing the supply from medium to low pressure could cause issues with any MPMs installed in the area affected, and I would expect that to have been accounted for in the plans for the...

Were you notified about forthcoming works to the gas network in the area? Along the lines of "we are carrying out works on x date" and "call this number if you experience any problems with your gas supply"

Well, now you have to approach the person who first diagnosed boiler at fault. Although, I don't know what situation he found himself in at the time and what the appliance(s) would allow him to do, to "establish" sufficient gas pressure. 'if' the gas valve was opening as part of the ignition...

Central heating layout. This should work, right?

Are you in the industry? I'd guess not because a cobbler's children wear no shoes! And your average homeowner doesn't even know what's in their loft, apart from a load of crap that is there to inhibit any work that needs doing! Lol.

Central heating layout. This should work, right?

Sure keeps a system cleaner. And helps you know of possible leaks that could cause more damage! Jeez the state of most header tanks! Like something from a "how life began" documentary ;)

How to best relocate this waste pipe?

I wasn't sure if it was pushfit but I did see that socket in the floor and thought if it was, you could plug it flush to the floor ;)

    Scalding water with Hive

Are you measuring it with a thermometer or just guessing? 60°C is set on cylinders to prevent legionella but if water is constantly being drawn through and used up then risks are minimal and it can be lowered, but I would say 40 is too low. Recommend blending valve(s) or thermostatic taps.

A medium pressure regulator looks very different to a standard one IME... Have only encountered 2 MPMs in 5 years.
