    Replace Old Boiler or Not?

Anyone whoever walked into a pub before the no smoking ban, has got more chance of dying of lung cancer, than asbestos from a Potterton boiler!

    Replace Old Boiler or Not?

I'm inclined to agree with Flameport.. Little or no savings whatsoever, possibly more expensive in the long term. Good insulation is a much better investment. Keep the old Netaheat until it falls off the wall, and kills you. You won't be needing a new boiler then anyway..

VCW 242 GB EH Central Heating Not Working

Indeed, it's heartbreaking to think how many of these good solid boilers have been removed for little or no reason! Especially by British Gas!

    Vaillant Ecotech problem?

Ha-ha.. In this economic climate, I spend most of my time trying to dodge the stray bullets, and friendly fire, than mending boilers! Never believe a word they say..

    Vaillant Ecotech problem?

Indeed Tony.. how many times when you ask if there's anything wrong with the boiler when someones requesting a service, do you get a pause, and a list of faults? Par for the course.. Yet another consumer laid IED to diffuse.. Maybe we have enough business to be able to afford to help...

    Vaillant Ecotech problem?

Tell you what 3489, If you're within 15-20 miles of Dartford, either myself, or one of the boys will have a look for free.. It will however cost you a minimum of 2 mugs of coffee (splash of milk 1 sugar) and possibly a side snack.. We won't fix it, but we'll give you a fairly accurate...

    Vaillant Ecotech problem?

Well, probably the most important factor is..... Boiler manufacturers assume the boiler will be fitted to a high specification, and the emphasis or obligation is on the installer to carry out the installation to suit the requirements of the boiler.... which, unfortunately, is not always the...

    Vaillant Ecotech problem?

No doubt there are hundreds of 400 boilers out there working fine. But the system has to be spot on. Unfortunately boilers designed under perfect conditions don't always have the practicality of what's in peoples homes! It's our policy, based on our opinion, from past experience. It has nothing...

    Vaillant Ecotech problem?

Viessmann regular boiler 100W. You can drive a small car through the heat exchanger, never block up in a million years... no pump overrun required, but an option if you want to/can. Vaillant main heat exchangers lose 4m head in resistance/loss, as they're so narrow, much the same as the...

    Vaillant Ecotech problem?

We are ex-vaillant engineers, and we would NEVER fit a 400 series on a open vented system... too many tears, melted credit cards and suicidal customers in the past. Lets hope it's something as simple as the pump (me thinks not!). Love the signature 1985.... obviously been around a while...

    Vaillant Ecotech problem?

A 400 series Ecotec on an open vented system usually means the kiss of death and an early grave. Sounds like circulation problems, and possibly the main heat exchanger is blocking up. Is there a Magnaclean filter fitted on the return? or something similar? Possible pump problem, but if the...

Been offline, but still seriously cheesed off!

A bit coincidental that the problem vanished after the PCB's were changed, and also usually 3-4 weeks after commissioning. Thing is, I love the Viessmann.. Anyone else fit them? and what do you reckon if you do?

Hi Tony, Clueless, I wasn't present when they came to repair. The common fault is the F1. Happens two or three times, then new board and sorted! The last one was over the Easter bank hols, the call centre told my customer they don't send out engineers under warranty, and they had to contact...

Been offline, but still seriously cheesed off!

Hi guys, Tried the Viessmann, fitted about 9 in the last 12 months. Four of which have gone down within 28 days.. (PCB's were changed, all ok). I think that works out at 44% breakdown rate in first month! Although I do think they're a great little boiler, especially the new 100 with the...

Hello Bunnyman, Agile.. Not been on the site for ages, but still fed up with poorly built boilers and the back up service to boot! Can't we all throw a few grand in the pot, and build a proper boiler? Triple BBB (British Built Boilers).. Head in hands, on the edge of London Bridge!!

vaillant ecotec pro 28 making noise

Well, it could be a couple of things: A small amount of crap in the main heat exchanger can cause all sorts of noises. (hope you had the sense to fit a filter with the boiler, powerflush or not!) Or, it's usually something to do with the air/gas ratio (loud howling). In which case you need to...
