    Radiator inhibitor

I’ve booked a plumber to replace two radiators, he suggested I get some inhibitor along with the radiators. It’s not easy to contact him directly as his mum acts as the customer contact. Which inhibitor do people recommend? Not sure why he suggested I get it, I’m sure he has loads in his van!

    Removing kitchen trim

All finished and it looks rather good. I added a plug and socket for the extractor fan so I could remove it for painting. One wall cupboard could not be removed, the installer had screwed it to its larger neighbour with screws under the hinges, and at the back. I would have had to lift off both...

    Removing kitchen cupboards

Thank you. So I guess I turn each screw in turn and see which one raises the cupboard. When you say lift off, do you mean I have to slide the cupboard upwards until it is free? Or slide upwards a little then pull away from the wall?

    Removing kitchen cupboards

I want to remove my Optiplan kitchen cupboards for painting. I removed screws at the side fixing it to its neighbour. And I unplugged the light. There are two access holes, top right and top left: Does anyone know the function of the two screws. and how I remove the cupboard? I couldn’t find...

    Removing kitchen trim

Thanks all. No sign of screws. I will remove one cupboard with the plank, and frog tape the other plank.

    Removing kitchen trim

My kitchen was installed 15 years ago after I painted the walls. Now I want to repaint. Removing the cupboards is easy. However, there are two pieces of trim, basically chipboard, each between a wall and the side of a cupboard to hide a gap. Each ~4” wide chipboard plank is fixed to the wall...

How to prevent cracks and keep coving on

I’m sure that 15 years ago Easifill was listed as a coving adhesive. Doubtless there are better options today. All of the coving I put up is fine apart from along one wall, which has plaster cracks. I’m still none the wiser as to the plaster cracks. 15 years ago the plaster at the top of the...

How to prevent cracks and keep coving on

Thank you for recommending a better adhesive. However, this doesn’t solve why the wall plaster cracks. Last time when I removed the old plaster, 15 years ago, I found the plaster on the wall beneath the coving severely cracked the whole length of the wall, with cracks extending a few inches...

How to prevent cracks and keep coving on

About 15 years ago I put up coving in several rooms using easifill as cement. Most is fine, but in the two bedrooms above windows the coving has started to separate from the wall, and in places the plaster on the wall below has cracked. Some photos below. This is a bungalow, the walls with the...

    Drilling tiles for outside tap

I’m thinking about installing an outside tap, with the water supplied from beneath a bathroom sink. The inner walls are tiled with porcelain tiles. So I could buy a drill specifically for the tiles, and use a non hammer drill. However, once through the tile, can I then switch to a smaller SDS...

    Send in the Marines!

And don’t forget that while Trump was associating with some rather undesirable people, he was running casinos, Now in the USA there are strict rules governing the running and ownership of casinos. Associating with such people should have barred him from running casinos. In addition, he often...

    Send in the Marines!

When he built Trump Tower, he first knocked down an existing building with a culturally important Art Deco facade. He promised to preserve the facade. In practice he had it destroyed with sledgehammers. He hired Kaszycki & Sons Contractors, a window washing business to do the work. The non union...

    Send in the Marines!

The clue is in the name. They’re peace keepers, a mix of military, police and civilian workers. The leaders can choose staff according to need.

    Send in the Marines!

It’s the same situation, sending in soldiers to keep order among civilians. They’re trained to shoot the enemy dead, they’re not trained to keep the peace. Sending them in makes the situation worse. Of course one advantage is that once rioters are dead, you can remove the illegals and bury only...

    Send in the Marines!

I’ve just finished a book about Trump. He’s far worse than I ever imagined. He has a habit of licencing his name out to property developers. He helps them advertise new luxury flats, then when it all goes belly up, he claims to have had nothing to do with it. All while pocketing huge sums of...

    Send in the Marines!

We did the same in Northern Ireland, when we sent in troops to protect the Catholics. That didn’t quite work out as well as expected did it! Troops are trained to fight armed opponants, not keep order in civilian areas.
