    Cut roof instead of trusses

It's just an estimate based on experience, lots of variables of course, you might work 12 hour days in summer.

    Cut roof instead of trusses

If you have no time scale, then my estimates are irrelevant really, but I would think with 3 men you could install trusses, felt, baton and tile a simple roof in a week.

    Cut roof instead of trusses

Forgetting maths and labour, it depends on how long you want the job to take, trusses 1 week and the cut roof 3 weeks.

Roof Opinion on Possible House Purchase - Rosemary Tiles Circa 1910

Without knowing the state of the leadwork, I'd say that roof could last another 20-30 yrs with a bit of TLC.

    Cut roof instead of trusses

Trusses all the way for me, simpler, quicker, and Velux or similar companies do skylights 55cm wide by different lengths, so no need to double up trusses.

advise on resealing an old velux window

You will need a replacement flashing kit, as your window is old. If you use a new flashing kit, you will need to lower the frame 25mm.

    Loft trussed roof ideas

Well, that's why I thought I'd mention it, you could have got two at say 55 x 98cm without having to break your back! You also get a better spread of light.

    Loft trussed roof ideas

Nice. As a side note, velux do a range of stylights 550mm wide, which are designed to fit between standard truss rooves at 600mm wide. Which saves you having to make any structural alterations.

Ridge tile - Old mortar won't budge

Robin! You can't seriously be giving advice to a novice about using a grinder on a roof one-handed, especially with that attachment you have recommended. OP if the old cement is still solid, and the replacement fits well, then stick it on with expanding foam.
