    Overheating Dimplex Quantum storage heater

More research says if the charge controller needs replacing, so does the user interface so the software matches. Disappointing, and £170 or thereabouts.

    Overheating Dimplex Quantum storage heater

Thank you, this is of great help! It's a Series G, and I found the correct manual via your link - https://www.manualslib.com/manual/2351616/Dimplex-Qm050.html?page=16#manual The bi-metallic thermostats on the left show open circuit, which I would expect. The room temp reads as between...

    Overheating Dimplex Quantum storage heater

Excuse my stupidity, but which are the temp sensors? I believe there may be one in the insulation along the bottom. I think the 2 devices in series on the left end are thermal cutouts? 1 seems to have a reset. At the bottom of the left is a something, which has 2 wires and I cannot identify...

Cost for bricking up a small window?

Brick it up yourself. If its out the way as you say then even if its not perfect it won't matter, and you've gained a new skill. 1 bag of cement, couple of bags of sand, s drop of fairy liquid are all you need. Chop the half bricks out with a bolster if you want, or as suggested inset it a...

    Driveway Problem

Bed the new pipe of pea gravel, build up the sides with concrete 10-150mm (No mesh, not necessary at all), and depending on height above the pipe, either more concrete (so just encase it all in 1 pour) or a thick iron plate across the top - 10mm would be enough..

    Overheating Dimplex Quantum storage heater

I am familiar with Google, thanks. Dimplex confirmed it shouldn’t get that hot, and it never has done nearly 10 years

    Overheating Dimplex Quantum storage heater

I was unsure if I should post here, or in appliances. I have a Quantum QM150 storage heater that's almost 10 years old, and has started overheating, the front panel measured over 60 degrees a few days ago compared to the others being mid-20s. Dimplex will send an out of warranty engineer (The...

    Reduce UPVC frame width

Ive done some brutal removal on them using an electric planer before. Where you have planed will be like a knife, please sand the edge, or run a sharp blade over it at an angle. I had to clean blood off the frame after fitting.

Are small height differences between beam and block in floor problematic?

If you have the odd block 2-3mm low, anything above 50mm PIR isn't going to sink into it really. If you have mortar on the blocks, a hand grinding block is very good, but if its only slight it will just indent the insulation. 100mm floor insulation is likely plenty, unless you have a large...

    Diy house rewire

You also need to hire calibrated testing equipment, I don't know where hires that out? As you haven't started yet, you may find an electrician who is happy for you to do the first fix, or more, as long as they can check on it and test..... but you need that agreement before you start.

XPS tile backer boards on blocks

The gap will hopefully vary across the wall, as it should be to level up a wonky wall. The gap doesn't need to be big otherwise. Tile adhesive spread everywhere will only work on a perfectly flat wall. Yes fixings with wedi washers would be a good idea afterwards. I can't tell if your wall...

I'd further argue the GD section offers nothing useful, and mostly attracts people with no interest in the sites purpose. As such, it could be removed, reducing costs.....

Tanking tape on outer corners of niche

Job done. The outer corners didn't stick that well, as I'd foolishly applied some silicone over the edges previously. So it's waterproof, but the tape moves on those corners. Hopefully the tiler is happy with that.

Tanking tape on outer corners of niche

Thanks for this, is there tanking tape on the verticals too? Looks like yes on the right, but the left not sure? I was worried about not getting complete coverage, especially the corners on the face, but the tape seems to just be a means to hold the liquid membrane in place so it covers...
