When you consider the proliferation of lights, 'screen wipers etc. that turn themselves on/off without conscious input by the driver it's hardly surprising that the poor souls should be spared the arduous task of actually opening the bonnet, let alone checking the oil level :cry:

+1 Major car manuf. in Germany & the US have components produced in China, what matters is the QC.

I wash by hand (bucket & garden hose) when my arthritis allows, otherwise it's a drive-through wash & blow dry. I'm wary of the intense pressure from jet washers, especially on older paintwork.

Heated front 'screens are nothing new, when I was a Green Line coach driver back in the 'seventies some of the vehicles were fitted with heated 'screens. Not fine wire in those days but the elements ran around a border of the glass so as to allow un-obstructed vision & were quite effective...

Me too! I've been doing just that for decades, except for the years we had a Mondeo with a heated 'screen. Isn't it strange that manuf. seem to think it's more important to be able to see what's behind you rather than in front :unsure:
