So I'd be looking for a break in the dpm under the concrete in the living room. What about under the tiles in the hall? They're original what would be under them to stop damp?

    Need help with damp!

There's no joists. It's straight onto the ground as far as I can tell. The wall between the living room and hall has a dpc done by a damp company in 2010. The wall between the hall and nextdoor has not as the gas pipe is there so can't easily be done, that wall is less damp. So would need to...

    Need help with damp!

Hello, Could anyone advise about damp in a terraced house from around 1900. We've lived here about 5 years. There's always been a bit of damp but gotten much worse this year. The tiles in the hallway have started lifting! Is it just because it's rained a lot and is there anything I can do about...

    Removing multiple internal walls

Hi, that's really helpful. I hadn't thought about the fire safety of an open plan staircase. You can exit from the first floor to the garden so possible it would t matter but I'll look into it.

    Removing multiple internal walls

I prefer it. Had similar in a previous house, liked to be able to see the kids. This house has nice gardens front and back so nice to be able to see both. There's another living room upstairs so still can be sepeoif wanted. The room at the back is a bit small with a kitchen in at the moment.

    Removing multiple internal walls

Perfect, I'll get the sledge hammer out tonight. Obviously I'd get a structural engineer to tell me. I was just hoping someone who'd done something similar could chip in with if it was possible and how much of a nightmare it turned into.

    Removing multiple internal walls

Hi, I wanted to ask about removing multiple walls in a Victorian terrace. Is it similar to removing one wall multiple times or is it very likely that the point where multiple rsjs would rest would need significantly modifying to take the weight? We'd really like to take out the green and blue...

Is this hard to remove? I think it's called an oriel window

Hello, Its a supported bay window, sticks out about 1m from the house. Looks like it's falling to pieces and doesn't add much to the room it's in, probably blocks some light downstairs too. Any idea what it might cost to take out? Thanks

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Not sure why it's only become a problem in the last few months though.

    Integrated Dishwasher Moving

Kitchen installed 2 years ago. Dishwasher door has started rubbing against adjacent units to the extent the dishwasher moves backwards when opening. Not sure why this would happen, nothing has moved as far as I can tell. Dishwasher screwed to worktop at the top. All other units secured. Seems...

Does anyone recognize this clip and where I can get one?

Ha sorry. It opens the window. You pull down on it and the window opens.

Does anyone recognize this clip and where I can get one?

Hi, as the title says. Can anyone identify this clip? I have it on two windows and one has broken. I can't find a replacement but am probably searching the wrong thing. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

    Anyone know about party walls?

Thanks. That's very helpful. My house was there first so hopefully not an issue.

    Anyone know about party walls?

Ha yes there is that. I don't have a great understanding of party walls. Isnt the issue if they object later on or when you come to sell there can be issues?
