Building up a base under a shed

That's not a bad idea! I mean now i have invested too much into aggregates etc but definitely for the future use. I'll start looking out for those free pallets (don't see them as much these days). I'm guessing pallets (and definitely ply or osb) would start rotting sooner or later but it's...

Building up a base under a shed

Thanks again. Yes, you're quite right about the shed's floor. I had a similar idea to you about brick perimeter and filling it in. Or if not, just losing that 0,5m and avoiding the higher bit of the root altogether (I think I could even out the resulting area with rubble and mot. Have a good...

Building up a base under a shed

Thanks. A hard advise to take as I was set on this plan, with mot, sand and slabs ready but perhaps this is the way. If going with bricks (could I use some of the slabs?) I would still have to make sure it's level, and supporting shed floor in the middle, no?

    Leaning concrete posts

:-))) No handy winch sadly. Leaning tower or digging around it is.

Building up a base under a shed

Hi all, We were left a keter plastic shed by our neighbours (8*6). The only place where we can fit it in our small garden has a bit of a slope. I started digging it out but found a root there at the highest point . The root is of a mature ash tree (so hoping that it won't grow more). The plan...

    Leaning concrete posts

Hi all. As seen on the picture, I inherited a couple of leaning concrete posts. Apart from the fact that they are leaning, they are also a bit unsightly, but other than that very useful - serving as a support for laundry lines. I wanted to ask your advice on the following : 1. Is it worth...

    Fixing a groove/hole in concrete

4-6 weeks ago. I think I read it since (when trying to sort out the gate issue) but I wasn't told by them, which would have been helpful. How long do you keep it wet for?

    Fixing a groove/hole in concrete

I have made a hole but it turned into a groove. Those guys who did the new surface must have mix it badly as it's so soft/crumbly. Too much sand it seems. But after your message I checked if I can drill deeper (below the new surface). I was surprised that my cordless drill was powerful enough to...

    Fixing a groove/hole in concrete

Agreed. But the whole plan works only if there is a bolt - sized hole, not a long groove.

    Fixing a groove/hole in concrete

Apologies. I was sure I have attached those! I think they didn't finish uploading. I thin the groove got even worse /longer since taking the photo.

    Fixing a groove/hole in concrete

Hi all, This might be trivial for most of you but I don't have experience working with concrete. We had some of our front of the house cracks and holes fixed with fresh concrete. Also under the gate. The issue at hand is that the gate's bolt created a groove in the concrete and the gate...

    Repairing cornice

Thank you both for your ideas and taking your time to reply . None of the ways seems easy but I think I will give opps' way a try, as this was something I had in mind originally . Wish me luck :-))

    Repairing cornice

Good morning, I hope this is the right forum to ask about it. My old kitchen hood (recirculating) has died, and as I could not find the exact replacement of the same dimensions (I foresaw the ensuing issues), I decided to replace it with an extractor fan. As there were some logistical issues...

New thermostat, old problem (wiring issue?)

Ha ha. If you are talking about testing disconnected unit I already done it (and attached photos) - see post #20.

New thermostat, old problem (wiring issue?)

Yeah, that's impossible. In the old model the backplate and unit were one piece so I could have done the measuring just by removing the front plate. In the new thermostat front plate and thermostat are one, so after I connect thermostat to the back plate to fully assemble it I don't have an...

New thermostat, old problem (wiring issue?)

This one is a bit unclear on reflection. There was a buzz when I tested for continuity on a plugged in unit so looking good here as well. But it's just backplate and wires I am testing. If I put a unit into back plate there's no way to test
