    I've noticed that none of my rads have lock shields. Just a pipe going out out the bottom through an elbow and back into the system. Why is that?

    Instead of a lock shield there is an elbow, similar shape to the valve, with a cap which screws on or off and is 15 mm threaded. these have hex heads but are just hand tight. But there is no on/off adjustment. The rads work the same whether the caps are on or not. Water doesn't appear to flow...
