    Foundation sanity check.

After being told my first idea was doomed to failure, I've come up with two alternatives, the first comprises a minimal strip and foundation blocks, and the second is a full fill trench. Building will be an unattached outhouse, non-Building Controlled, 3m tall brick-and-block home gym, with no...

    Yet Another Foundation Question (sorry).

Please be gentle, because I'm self-taught, but : A DPM under the slab, a DPC in both leaves, water-resistant batts in the cavity, and liquid DPM applied to the inside floor and walls up to DPC, in addition to drainage channels around the outside of the wall that would prevent rain sitting by the...

    Yet Another Foundation Question (sorry).

Alright, I'm convinced I'm heading for failure here. I will do my own research, but can anyone recommend 'Strip Foundations & Slabs - An introductory course for backward children' on YouTube? Please don't reply because that will only fill my heart with confusion and fear.

    Yet Another Foundation Question (sorry).

(Sorry, thought I'd posted this, but apparently not!) Yes, I forgot to mention, it's a garden gym. I like the look of your garage. My room will probably turn out to be similar in weight, so I might pilfer your design!

    Yet Another Foundation Question (sorry).

It'll be used as a gym - heavy weights and impacts - so I'll need a thick central foundation. I just presumed that if I needed to dig deep for strips, and not-quite-so-deep for the slab, it'd be simpler to lay a thick slab and call it a day. Looks like I might be heading back to the drawing board.

    Yet Another Foundation Question (sorry).

My Perfect Plan had a brush with reality today, and I didn't like it. I'd like to garner some more opinions before I get to crying for the night. At the moment, the site is mostly covered with a two wooden sheds on a concrete slab, about 45 years old, which is starting to crack and crumble. My...

    Narrow trestles?

A belated thank you to everyone who replied here. I have taken all your advice on board, and am currently planning on using multiple 'normal' trestle pairs where there is space, spare blocks, and DIY wooden trestles (built with assistance since wood mystifies me) to fill any gaps. Much ta to...

    Narrow trestles?

I like the cut of your jib. I'll keep this as a last resort; I'd prefer to trust my life to implacable steel over my shoddy woodwork.

    Narrow trestles?

Muggins here. Windows and gutter are at the front, and I'm happy to maintain ground and walls with a 50cm gap. It gives me an incentive to lay off the pies.

    Narrow trestles?

TLDR: Building brick structure, only have 50-60cm clearance around three sides; can't fit standard trestles. What do? I'm currently planning a brick-and-block garden gym at the bottom of my garden. It'll be 4.5m x 3.5m x either 2.5m or 2.8m depending on planning permission. Everything's going...
