    Push fit fittings under floor

The pipes definitely weren't there before (he had to drill through the wall to install the pipework to a new boiler location). I agree that the pipes don't look new and I did suspect they've been reused - is it safe to do it with water pipes (risk of contamination, lead etc)? They don't even...

    Push fit fittings under floor

Cables were installed after pipework, this is something that I'm also concerned about would it be safe for them to be that close to pipework ?

    Push fit fittings under floor

Thanks all for the replies. Could I also ask you if the attached pipework looks safe? It was installed 2 months ago and to me it already looks corroded?

    Push fit fittings under floor

I have no idea why he used these instead of copper. There have been already a few things that weren't done properly during the job so now I'm being really worried that this installation won't withstand the test of time.

    Push fit fittings under floor

I've recently had a central heating system upgraded (combi boiler). The pipework is in a void under a suspended floor, mostly copper. However, I've noticed push fit fittings in some areas. Is this going to be reliable (thinking of potential leaks)? The floor will be covered with laminate...

Very deep chase into a load bearing wall

But what about gas pipes? Could they go into that floor too? Now I feel like I need to set up a separate thread for some advice how to actually safely run this pipework...

Very deep chase into a load bearing wall

The reason of the chase was 2 integrated appliances in that area. Kitchen is too small to change the layout. Only 3.5 cm chase was needed, not 15cm by taking whole layer of bricks out I am now definitely considering the idea of running them in the floor, however I'm concerned about potential...

It looks like it, is this a concern?

Very deep chase into a load bearing wall

Exactly that's why I'm extremely concerned that this chase has weakened the structure of the wall and may have serious impact on the building. It will take a few days for the builders to come in to rebuild it so I'm just hoping the temporary props will be sufficient in the meantime.

Very deep chase into a load bearing wall

Many thanks for your response Harry, you've put my mind to ease a bit. The total wall thickness is about 24 cm (2 layers of brick - one inside and one outside) and the chase is about 13 cm. I'll be putting the timber supports in tomorrow morning. I really hope there will be no movement etc...

Very deep chase into a load bearing wall

I'm currently having some plumbing work done in my kitchen. I have agreed with the plumber that they would chase the pipes only about 3.5 cm into a wall. I came in today to a massive chase where the bricks have been taken out. The chase is at least 50-60% of the wall thickness. It is an...
