New light keeps blowing in bathroom (with pictures)

I haven't done anything to the actual cables. I just took off the old light and replaced it with a new one (using A to Live, B to earth and C to Neutral) If by Multimeter you mean the yellow box, with LCD and red and black pointers that I can use to test the voltage then yes. What do I do...

New light keeps blowing in bathroom (with pictures)

Hello everyone, I’ve done a lot of DIY on our 1910 terrace house since moving in nearly two years ago. Simple thing is electrics scare me. I have just finished doing the bathroom, and changed the light for a nicer halogen frosted effect light (240V 40W). However, now the light keeps...

Installed a shower + low HW pressure + CW from mains

Ok, as I thought there is just enough space to get my hand over the top of the cold water tank... so fitting another draw off using a tank connector could prove a problem if I need to get above it. So I'm going to buy a pressure meter and test the CW mains pressure. If that is close to 1.5...

    Water meter remote reader wiring

I can't help you as I know nothing about wiring. But, you may wont to edit your post above and include possible make and model of your water meter and remote meter... or better still, add some pictures.

Installed a shower + low HW pressure + CW from mains

Thanks, I'll look into that. It would be directly under the hot water cylinder and be the draw off the 22mm pipe. I'll have to check the temp, coz it does get stupidly hot sometimes. Is that stuff ok for plastic pipes? And thanks again for the reply.

Installed a shower + low HW pressure + CW from mains

Paul, Thank you so much for the detailed response. I think the tank was installed and then a boxed cupboard fitted around it, which doesn't leave me any room to get in and look, or fix in a new tank connector... but I will have a look tonight when I get in. I may be able to get to it from...

Installed a shower + low HW pressure + CW from mains

I've edited the text as lots of views on the thread but no answers. Is it ok? I've read the 'Read this before you post...' thread. I've tried to make it as detailed as possible

    TRV

Forgot to say that if you're using Boss White, don't use it with plastic piping!

    Advice Please

Unreliable? Any particular make? Model? I only ask as I'm think about fitting one http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=57125 to just the HW pipe, so that it evens out my water pressure problems. Ricky.

    TRV

I'm not a professional but here's my experience: When I fitted my TRVs I used the new olives that came with the TRV packs. If you're taking off the old ones becareful, they can be held on to the existing pipe quite tightly, so careful not to bend or mis-shape the ends of the pipes. If the...

Laughing my ass off... ok, a new look on it from a tradesman point of view!

    CORGI bashing

And isn't that how it should be done? I love watching a tradesman at work, some of the tips you pick up become a time and money saver in later life. I watched a guy fit a laminate floor, I ended up doing all our downstairs floors. You're not based in the north are you?

Installed a shower + low HW pressure + CW from mains

Hello, This site has helped me loads over the last few weeks to assist in the installation of a cheap and cheerful power shower (1.5 bar required 3.0 max) and to correct the odd leaking stop cock and rad valve. I just need a few questions answering before I go any further: The cold...

    Thanks very much you guys....

I guess I was lucky that my question(s) were quite common and therefore I had plenty of answers to work on. Basically they were 1) a leaky stop cock - turned off the outside street stop cock, turned the inside stop cock to off position. Unscrewed the main nut around the spindle/shaft, PTFE'd...

    Thanks very much you guys....

My first post on this site is just to say thanks as with a little searching and the generous answers of many in here I've been able to install a new shower and in turn stop a leaking internal stop cock. No doubt I will have some questions later on, but until then thanks again. Proof the...
