    Thanks for the link to the article, very informative (pity there's no REP system on this forum). I'm glad you recommend floating floor, I didn't really want to screed it when the new carpets are already down in the rooms around the hall. :)

    I want to lay an oak floor onto concrete, but after lifting the carpet, the floor is covered in what appears to be epoxy resin (not sure if that is right, but it's black stuff similar to bitumen). I've heard that you can glue wooden floors directly to concrete, but if has resin down is that...
