Thanks. I've had a look at the gas valve and the solenoid appears to be part of it (i.e. no screws or thread holding it in). Is this a common fault on these?

I have an Ideal Classic RS-50 wall-mounted boiler. It fires up fine, but I can hear a solenoid-like clicking coming intermittently from the gas valve. At the moment the boiler is still working, but if I look through the sight-glass I can see that the flame splutters when the clicking happens...
