    Space stuff...

Anyhoo, I'm about to drift off for some feather. I've made my point and you, yours. Only time will tell. Until there are boots on mars, I'm right. Good night :-)

Good. 1 tonne. Even apollo 11 was 5 tonnes, and they could barely swing a cat in that. And they were only in the lander for a couple of days. To land and live on mars, it's going to have to be a sight bigger than that.

What have you had for dinner

Air fried some hash browns, three fried eggs, fried mushrooms, and baked beans. I probably should have fried the beans too, just for consistency (y)

With rockets. 250000 miles away, not 100-odd million miles. And not with 100t.

Like I said. We're talking about landing, not flying around and around. Current tech cannot land anything "human size-rated" without rockets. Which means taking the fuel with you. And, for your 100t payload, lots of it. Not happening any time soon.

IIRC, over half of what we've tried to land on Mars, we've either smashed into the surface or missed the planet completely. And that's stuff weighing a tonne or so at most. You can't land a microwave oven - intact anyway - on Mars with just a parachute. Much less humans, or a 100t habitation...

    Space stuff...

Thinner = fudge all. Which is why NASA has to invent a sky crane to lower Perseverance onto the surface. The sky crane used fuel to power the rockets. It had to carry that fuel there, obviously. Now consider the challenge of doing that, but with a 100t payload. Great on paper, not so in reality.

100t payload, you say? Impressive. More impressive will be stopping it creating a mile - wide crater on Mars, seeing as there's no atmosphere there to slow it down.......

When you're skimming the clouds, the only danger is zero G, you say. Whatever, but that's not relevant to space travel, where you can add radiation exposure outside of the earth's magnetosphere. Which, given a decent solar storm, won't give the astronauts cancer: it'll kill them in minutes...

Running away from the mess we've created? It's a terrible thing to do.

Will they be Jailed then deported?

Correct. But I'm all for slinging them in jail, seizing their assets, whatever. They should not be allowed to profit from their ill deeds, however slightly that may be.
