    regards the fan, it doesnt need to be fused but putting in an isolator is a good idea, as for cutting the cable, it depends on the size/thickness of the cable. 1.5/2.5 3core armour can be cut with cable shears (as long as they are sharp) but anything else i would use a hacksaw. BUT MAKE SURE...

    if its a 2.5mm ring i wouldnt put more than 10 double sockets on a 32a mcb, or yu could run a radial circuit with 2.5mm cable and a 16/20amp mcb. good luck

    Wiring New Lights

    the flex for a light pendant holder only carrys 1x100watt lamp which is 0.41amps, so this is adequate for the load, as for the lights in the alcove why dont you switch the light with a fused spur and rate the fuse at 3amp?

    cant think why you have red/back and brown/black cables but try putting the two reds into c, the brown into L1 and the black marked with red (hopefully a switchwire) into L2 Hope this solves the problem.

    johnny, If you dont use the sockets and light why not just strip it out, if you need power outside just use the rcd plug and an extention
