It extends the width of the door and its hollow underneath thats why I thought it was a waste of time to try and just fill the crack.

Yes it is, its a relatively new one as well. I have emptied the system totally in the last couple of weeks and refilled, venting all the radiators as well.

It is getting warm, but its also running, when i change the speeds from 1 to 3 i can hear it changing speed.

It has a header tank in attic, a 3way motorised valve, myson compact pump, microbore pipes feeding 7 radiators, hope this is enough information.
