    internal door threshold damp

    I am fitting a new carpet - I removed the old door threshold (internal door) and there is a small gap between th two floors. One side of the gap is damp and the floor is crumbling a bit. I have put some sealant in the gap but I am not sure if this is sufficient? Some advice welcome.
