Oil based undercoat best , if you have the time Zinser Cover Stain ....3 hour dry ....but not a 100 percent stain blocker Next up oil based spray can .....quicker dry Zinser Bin Red .....I find it too thin I don't think the newer water based ones are good stain blockers

I prefer to use a oil based undercoat under a water or oil finish At the moment it's seems quite reasonably priced ? Anyone use it or prefer a different brand I have used wickes before now rather use a water acrylic undercoat , don't think they cover or sand well
