I have a westhern trv which i was attempting to mend by shaking the pin up and down as the valve had become stuck. I accidentally pulled the pin out. What's the proceure for re-fitting it?

upon finding out how to fix a cold radiator by loosening the pins i became slightly over-zealous. While moving the pin in and out to loosen it up i accidentally pulled too hard and the entire pin has come out. I put the pin back in but it won't go in all the way, how do i go about refitting it?
