Your always going to get the odd bad batch of plaster but its more likely to be caused by the bags getting damp .

the way ive always looked at it is if the painters are happy im not trying hard enough, adding lime gives a lovely finish but it would take forever to go off , best bet is watch other plasterers watch what they are doing different and their tools .
