Has anyone got or ever used a Black and Decker Scorpion ES890EC(jigsaw and handsaw)? Is it any good. Will it comfortably cut 4"x4" fence posts? It says it will cut 100m timber? They do them in B&Q for £40.

The timber yard that I'm buying the joists from advertises the 4"x2" timber as 47mm cuts. I have measured them and they are 47mm. I was just concerned that with a small gap between the timber and the hanger, you could end up with rain water sitting on the bottom of the joist and rotting the...

Can someone tell me why most joist hangers (timber to timber) are 50mm in width, when mmost timber joists are 2" (47mm). Why the 3mm difference? I am undertaking a small decking project and want to purchase 47mm joist hangers for 2" x 4" joists.
