ha! We have....it's the sub's who plan to use the sugar soap: I need a contingency in case they're wrong!

we have a rennovation project for a fire damaged house. we need to remove the soot from the walls and ceiling before they can be plastered. The plan is to use a sugar soap. Does anyone have any experience of this work and/or tips? :?
