Hey all I`m wanting to swap this radiator valve for a trv corner type, i`m completely clueless with this but to me it looks like the radiator fixing is a different size to the 15mm corner valve i want to fit, any ideas if i`d need to replace the radiator insert/tail in order for it to fit the...

bathroom extractor flat roof installation for loft conversion

Thanks. Just went up and had a look whilst they’re out at lunch and I can just see the flexible ducting with my phone camera. But there isn’t anything externally, and even the soffit is solid, no vent slots. So I might ask if they just can put a vent into the side.

Hi all we are having a loft converted currently and have a bathroom in the dormer area. The builders have put in a 100mm hole up through the ceiling , waiting for the ceiling extractor fan to go in. But i`m querying to them where the ducting is as cant see anything apart from obs board above...

lock ideas to improve out front door?

Heres with the door hardware removed, think i can just glue in a piece of timber into where the old lock was and then add a night latch with a bit of chiselling out.

lock ideas to improve out front door?

Yes thanks the bottom one is a deadlock, i`ll keep that the same. I was trying to not have to create more holes on the front of the door, so though the 40mm would allow to use the same hole for the key plate. I assume thats possible , or are my chances of finding something to match remote?

lock ideas to improve out front door?

Thanks a lot for the info. Will have a look into those. For the time being would this work for the top lock, i can keep the bottom one as is. I was going for the 40mm type of these, would this work? But i`ll look into those links you provided. ERA 183-31 DOUBLE LOCKING NIGHT LATCH BRASS 40MM...

Problem with decking warping after 6 months

Hey All, We had some yellow balau decking put down before christmas, I noticed as the weather has gotten warmer that some of the long boards are warping. I got back the landscaper who put it down and he said some of the screws had snapped. He replaced the problem ones. But then I went to check...

    Loft boarding after thick insulation

Hey all We recently moved into a 1930s house that has had full insulation about 10 years ago, it's 30cm thick and then loads of small polystyrene balls filled in between the joists. I'd like to increase the storage as only about 10ft is boarded. What's the best way to go about this. I've seen...

    Replacing lock on 1930s door.

I`ve decided to just double lock the door. Saves having to mess around with locks and letter boxes. Maybe eventually could put the letter box on the side wall below the window and like you say block up the existing letter box. Thanks for help.

    Replacing lock on 1930s door.

Thanks but i`d rather not go that route, trying to keep the front door looking nice as its an original door so the less add ons the better really. any other options using the existing lock arrangement?

    Replacing lock on 1930s door.

I checked this and yes its a issue, something you cant do with the current turn knob , but with a latch could probably unlatch the door. thanks for pointing that out. Sooo.. Any other solutions or shall i just carry on with what i`ve got and double lock the door when we can be bothered?

    Replacing lock on 1930s door.

I`ll check that thanks. There is another lock further down the door but rarely use it , more of use for when we go away.

    Replacing lock on 1930s door.

Ah, I was going to get that one as it looked quite straight forward to install and the existing key hole matches. Didnt realise it wasnt british standard. Any suggestions? The key hole is 40mm in from the edge of the door and the frame fitting was just the right width to fit ours.

    Replacing lock on 1930s door.

Another question, I've measured up for a Yale night latch like this https://www.safe.co.uk/products/yale-no-2-auto-deadlocking-nightlatch-40mm.html that will fit , the issue will be hiding the hole at the side of the door where the plate use to be. Any ideas how to best disguise that? Thanks Paul

    Decking seating

Yes enough materials left and the frame work has two vertical pillars behind that section from top to bottom. No reason to have uneven screws or split timber.

    Decking seating

Hey all Just finishing having our landscaper make our garden seating. I'm not sure if I'm just a fussy so and so but looking at the image below of the middle section, it looks messy to me. Screws and joints all over the place. Thoughts? Thanks
