    Hardcore for new driveway

I tried the above and it didn't really go sticky, so I guess is crushed concrete. Was expecing today another truck load of proper type 1 to add to the rest of the driveway but today's delivery looked like crushed tarmac, roads plannings I think they call it. Hope it does the job but certainly...

Connecting a rain water down pipe into a public surface rain water sewer

Cut a long story short, the existing drainpipe drains water onto our drive and down a slope into the lawn. We're having some work done and I want this drainpipe to connect to a nearby rain water manhole on the driveway which connects into the public surface water sewer. I have been told this is...

    Hardcore for new driveway

OK, spoke with the boss on site today. The hardcore delivered to date is only the initial base, proper type 1 hardcore is coming tomorrow to whack on top - contrary to what one of the workers told me on Tuesday. I am relieved by this, and hope there is sufficient quantity and height availability...

    Hardcore for new driveway

250 sqm ... 27k. To be fair, the paving blocks alone cost 10k if I bought them myself. The boss is here tmrw for the first time. I will update after.

    Hardcore for new driveway

They are using a wacker plate, not a roller. I have contacted Tony and waiting to hear back from him, and also an arborist about an established pine tree that looks like 30% at least of its roots have been ripped out.

    Hardcore for new driveway

OK ... so how exactly do I tell the boss of the company your hardcore is rubbish and I want it replaced with proper type 1. He will tell me they've been using it for years and never had a problem. If I could call on a true expert to come and take a look it would makes things easier, but where do...

    Hardcore for new driveway

The firm doing the job, perfect reviews across the internet, I can't find any negative comments about them, established for 35 years, family run, Brett approved contractors and authorised by the Met Police Trading Service as an approved supplier. Who can you trust these days? I have a host of...

They said the hardcore is recycled crushed concrete to dust, been using it for years, never had a problem. Can only hope so.

Concerned by tree roots dug up for new driveway

Hi, we have an established pine tree on the border of our driveway, which is in the process of being re-done. The roots were lifting the old driveway in places and I was assured cutting a few roots would not do any harm. Please see pics below, there are more roots that have already been scooped...

    Hardcore for new driveway

I will talk to them tomorrow to express my concern about the quality of the hardcore. All edges will be finished with embedded concrete edging. Thanks for all your replies.

    Hardcore for new driveway

It was tarmac, will now be block paving, official plan 1. The excavated depth will be a minimum of 300mm. 2. We lay down a porous PVC membrane, then apply the sub-base of Type 1 crushed concrete, and compact using our vibrating-plate compactor until the desired level is achieved. 3. We then...

    Hardcore for new driveway

Thanks SFK. Our drive goes directly onto the road, there is no pavement. Next to our house is a steep lane with no drainage. When it rains the amount of crap that sweeps down it then past our driveway would have blocked the drains in next to no time. It was discussed but there's never been...
