    rounded bleed valves

I have this problem and came across Easibleed valve kits. They seem super simple to fit. Has anyone used them?

Thank you FX, I will take a look at that website. Yes, external walls are pointed with lime mortar, not sure about the internal walls yet.

    Relaying old flags indoors

No, not saying blue membrane is acting as a DPC Yes, I understand the difference between DPC & DPM There is no DPC Yes, walls dot & dabbed, no tanking treatment, previous owner installed an electro osmosis DPC which has since rotted away Thank you for taking the time to reply bobasd

    Relaying old flags indoors

Thanks bobasd. I've read that using a membrane could send the damp up into the walls, which as you rightly pointed out do have a very poorly fitted membrane. Is that something to consider? I can't take the flags outside as doing this on my own, but cleaning won't be necessary as when re-layed...

    Relaying old flags indoors

Hi, I have uncovered a flagstone floor in my kitchen, from under various layers of concrete. I need to re-lay about 1/3 of the flags as they dip quite badly. It looks like soil and lime underneath, pretty damp too. Should I re-lay them on sand or should I be using a membrane. My concern is the...

Doors to small, can I decrease door frames/jams?

Thanks, and apologies for the late response, but StephenStephen, did you mean add to the hinge side? Wouldn't it be too much strain? I do have 2 spare doors so I can match up the strips.

Doors to small, can I decrease door frames/jams?

Hi, I am doing up my house on a VERY small budget. I have bought some second hand pitch pine cottage doors complete with hinges and locks. All of them are too narrow for the 8 door frames I replacing doors in. Is there an easy way to add to the frames/jams without it looking too bodged? I'm...

Please help identify area in old flagstone floor

Thanks for the reply Pilsbury. There is the remains of a line of white paint where the flags joint the concrete, so maybe there was a wall as you suggest. Still a mystery as to why it wouldn't be flagged on the other side of the wall though. Chisel bits arrived for SDS drill today, so here...

Please help identify area in old flagstone floor

Many thanks wessex10 and jasonzyx for your replies. I'm embarrassed that I didn't think of a lump hammer! I do have an SDS drill with roto stop, so I will give that a go with a chisel bit. I don't want to get the whole lot out (if there are not flags underneath) just enough to make fake...

Please help identify area in old flagstone floor

Hello, thanks for the reply. Yes, the flags will be the finished floor. The rest of the screeds came up with hammer and chisel, various thicknesses across the floor, but this is solid, I can't get anything off it with the chisel and didn't want to drill before getting another opinion. The...

Please help identify area in old flagstone floor

Hello, I've uncovered a flagstone floor (2nd one) and I've come across an area that appears to be aggregate/concrete. I've removed the old floor screeds but this area is slightly higher than the flags and I can't make any impression on it at all. There is some kind of paint on top layer, and...

    Rust removal from flagstones

Hello and thanks for reading. Does anyone know a product which will remove the rust from a very old old internal flagstone. It's from where an earth rod rotted away? Pic attached. Many thanks for any help. Pat

    Flagstone floor milling/grinding

Hi, after uncovering a flagstone floor, which I want to keep, it needs milling/grinding, as quite uneven and damaged in places. It's had some repairs done in the past with what I'm assuming is resin as it's harder than the sandstone flags and is really hard like flint? It's almost impossible to...

what's this in a flag stone floor?

what's this in a flag stone floor?

Oh, sorry, I thought 'delamination' referred to the top layer of the flagstone coming away...which has happened on a lot of the flagstones, leaving them porous and gritty/crumbly. The earth rod leads to an osmosis damp proof plug!

what's this in a flag stone floor?

Thanks Pilsbury, an earth rod, yes, I think it is. I assume an electrician will need to relocate it? My intention was to patch up the floor, but it's so loose in more areas than not, it has to come up. I'd really like to restore flagstone floor (myself, as there is minimal to zero budget) but...

what's this in a flag stone floor?

Hi, today I began chiselling out the loose and damp areas in a very badly screeded floor. The more I chiselled the more came away. What I am wondering is if I could take it all off back to the original flags (house is about 1850) but after only removing a small are I can see there is quite a...

    Tanking slurry

I fear this may cause a bit of eye rolling, but my questions is...if using tanking slurry on a damp concrete floor, does it have to meet the edge of the wall? I ask because the I'm loathed to remove the fitted kitchen, and the area under the cupboards is dry. I know the key word is 'tanking', as...

    Unidentified pipe (moved from Projects)

Hello, bit of a long shot, but can anyone tell me if this an air admittance valve at the top of the stack. It's in a void between two walls upstairs. Photo taken from boxing in floor level looking upwards into the void. I'm moving house and buyers have said theat they assume there isn't one as...
