    Building a staircase

    Doing a basic loft conversion and now need stairs. Do I have to fit the treads between routered grooves in the strings? Wny can't i just use blocks drilled to the string below each tread and then screws trough the tread into the block? Any advice on the forum? Thanks in advance.
