Hi everyone, Wondering if someone could tell me where to get this info. How far does the flue/terminal have to be from a neighbours boundary line? This is an external boiler fitted to the outside of a house (not mine). Can't find this in building regs? any links etc greatly appreciated, I need...

    colour free fence treatment

hi everyone, Well spring is here, finally got my fence finished at x-mas! Would like to treat it now, but can't seem to find a 'clear' treatment. I called ronseal tech line - I found a clear one by them - I don't mean the clear wood preservers you get as they're not suitable apparently on...

why no galvanised lost head nails?

ah, thanks guys, always had my doubts about that type of nail for this. I'm assuming they won't rust? I think it spoils the look of a nice wooden fence when you see the rust water marks down the boards. I figured that's why lost heads are advised? many thanks, kkatz

Fence Posts have 'moved' after concrete is set?

I'd say probably more like 30mm! Putting up closeboard, just as well! But we are fitting the rails between the posts instead of to the front, (makes more troublesome maybe) kkatz

Fence Posts have 'moved' after concrete is set?

hi dave, they'd been out in the saw mills yard so were wet when we bought them. When we erected them they were dry. Weather was dry one day and then drizzle on some days rest of week. Today has been the first real heavy rain since. The guy at saw mill reckons we don't need to weather proof...

Fence Posts have 'moved' after concrete is set?

ah, we did wonder if maybe we should have put up rest of fencing eg, attatched rails and feather board, but we reckoned leaving them a while to 'set' solid would've been better, besides we still had about another 18 to do! regards, kkatz

Fence Posts have 'moved' after concrete is set?

Hi thermo, posts were bought from my local saw mill in our village. we attatched spirit levels to front and side when erecting and positioning, they stayed in place until postfix had set - 15 mins. We checked them again end of day and then every day for first 4 or 5 days. Then checked one...

    Frost Heave

We have just been told about this, we thoroughly researched our fencing job and nothing came up about this! Our holes are 18" deep about 10/11" sq half filled with rubble and gravel rest filled with postfix, but we have 'haunced' the mix around base of post - as advised - to prevent soil rot...

Fence Posts have 'moved' after concrete is set?

Hi everyone, We are a bit bemused by this. We set 4x4 timber posts with postfix. They were aligned spot on. Now, about 1 week later most of them have 'tilted' by about 2 or 3cm -maybe more- either to the side or forward or back. We used 1.5 bags per post - as opposed to 1 bag - posts are 240m...

fixing timber posts against 45ft long 2ft 8" high wall

its 4" thick. There are various objects on the other side that we thought would help with sheilding from wind! a 7ft long shed an oil tank container for CH shrubs etc. A local builder said that's how he would do it? thanks, katz
