    Ground source heat pumps

you have had a lot of good feed back here with loads of good guys with loads of good experience. my opinion, well geo thermal is a great theroy, suppose to date back to roman times when they had fires under ground heating running water. it doesn't use any fosiel fuels? well it is essential that...

yeah drain cleaner is the way forward. beware though, some brands r very strong. get some kind of flunnel to ensure the liquid goes straight down the out let as they can damage the bath / or other sanitaryware itself. there can also b overpowering fumes comes off it. i was using it one time and...

    Gainsborough Shower Just Stopped

check all water valves ie stopcocks and balllfixes r opened fully. if there is any restrition in water supply going to the unit then this can cause the shower to shut off. then make sure there is acutually water going to the unit. sounds like power is geeting to the unit with the lights being...

    odd system design ?

the problem is with microbore is that the smaller bore pipes can only can a certain ammount of heat. if radiators r upgraded over the years and larger convecter ones installed then 8 and 10mm pipework won't carry the heat to them. there is a whole calculation which consutant enginers do when...

low pressure from hot supply help please

gate valves jam in cloed position all the time. because of this i seldomly close the valve and use plugging kits instead. if it is broke in the close position then a telltail sign is that the valve will keep turmning endlessly. if opened and working then its an air lock. if u have a mixer atp...

    Spinning bath tap, backnut

common problem. thing is u used a metal top hat (which i have never heard of b4.) the idea of using tophats is that they r plastic, and have a little give in them meaning as u tighten the back nut the top hat compresses slightly. also use brass back nuts as plastic ones always break.

    compression and push fit

i take it ur talking about standard hep, speedfit or other trade plastic pipes used for domestic plimbing and heating? there is no real difference in using pushfit or compression fiiting. kind of defeats the purpose of using plastic pipe if ur going to use compession. as for waste pipes the...

Redring Selectronic 'Ideal Temp' is too hot at 41 degrees C

i'd personably b disapointed at this too. the red ring expression r also very good shower with good flexable temperature setting. if u r changing make sure u keep the kilowatt rating of the cable feeding the shower. no bigger than 8.5 for 6mm cable and 10mm for 9kw up. :) good luck.

Redring Selectronic 'Ideal Temp' is too hot at 41 degrees C

well would imagine the 2nd and half way is spot on with 36 /39 degrees c. like . r none of these settings workable for ur daughter. these particular showers r whats specified in alot of nursing home and nhs work, they r normally very good and i never had any complaints about their preformance.

Use a tee or a 3 way manifold?

firstly u must understand that in ur circumstances u have an unvented hot water system. the mains water pressure u have going to the cylinder has to be reduced to 3 / 3.5 bar (or what manufactures instructions state otherwise) by the pressure reducing valve at the cylinder. it normally has an...

Install radiator pipes top/bottom or both at bottom?

there r only 2 reasons for top and bottom entry radiators. 1 as already pointed out, for an old 1 pipe system, or 2 for a gravity system. i would put back in the way it was b4. :)

Leaking immersion heater on unvented system

some folk on this site r quite petty when it comes to 'do this and never do that.' at the end of the day, you won't be drinking the water out of the cylinder. boss white has been around for years and used by most plumbers i know. and in recent times manufactures have made aternatives for potable...
