    Not hot enough!

Happy New Year to you all! (I wish it was a warm one) From my last posting you could not make it up if you tried. Needless to say, things went from bad to worse. Due to the upgrade in size some new rads were too big so different sizes had to be ordered to fit into available space. That was...

    Not hot enough!

What an education! Thanks so much. I love the comparison with double glazing - that I can understand. Having looked up 'lockshield valve' (so that is what itis called), I don't intend to delve into that myself but will have that gem tucked away as a suggestion - thay may think I know what I am...

    Not hot enough!

Thanks. That is something that I understand and can get my teeth into. Return under 55 (say 50-55) so flow has to be +20 (say 70-75) simple. In doing a bit of reasearch I came across this on Plumbingpages.com Condensingboilers - destroying the myths: The system does not need to be...

    Not hot enough!

This question sounds easy but I guess the answer will not be straight forward. What should the readings be (or in what sort of range)? i just need to get a basic understanding so that I can have a meaningful discussion with the plumber. Any guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Not hot enough!

Thank you all for your help and support, it gave me the confidence to go and talk with the developer. A fault has been identified in the plumbers' calculations of rad size which will now be replaced. I appreciate the comments on the boiler settings and will ask them to review the situation...

    Not hot enough!

In reply to 1 & 2 1) I turned the stat right down - the boiler stopped. I turned it up to 25C and the boiler started after a while I tried t3 and t4 again but both were showing readings of '--'. 2) We have copious amounts of hot water. We have a 150 litre tank and don't use that much so...

    Not hot enough!

We did bring up the size of the radiators in a couple of conversations before completion but they assured us they were OK and have provided us with the SAP paperwork with a SAP energy Rating of 81. Not 100% sure if that covers room temperature regulations or in fact if there are any. I can...

    Not hot enough!

    So far so good: readings as follows: t1- 75 t2 - 68 t3 - -- t4 - -- FL - 9.2 nF - 16 Hope that helps?

    Not hot enough!

I have a Honeywell stat and a Honeywell ST9400C 7 day programmer (with the heating set to run on continuous). I have the installation and service manual. Would it be worth me trying to read the setting information off? It would mean nothing to me.

    Not hot enough!

Hi The boiler does not turn off when I adjust the stat downwards, the stat just clicks. The boiler is a Remeha Avanta 24s. Thanks for your help.

    Not hot enough!

Many thanks for all the advice. I think it is time to speak with the developer.

    Not hot enough!

My suspicion is that the rads are insufficient to heat the area giving the amount of glass in the room, albeit double glazed. The hall rad is hot as well but the room thermostat in the hall just trips at 18/19 degrees - probably all the rads are of an insufficient size. The hall opens up into...

    Not hot enough!

the rads (we have two, one in lounge area, the other in the dining area) are both definitely 'hot' to touch. The other ends do not appear to be adjustable - they just turn.

    Not hot enough!

all rads hot, all rads in lounge fully open - on '5', others inbedrooms etc on '3'.

    Not hot enough!

sorry, no such luck. It only has a pressure gauge, a two digit window for an error code and four buttons underneath 'R' '+' '-' and 'return key'.

    Not hot enough!

I can't say that I have ever heard the boiler 'not' working so I believe that it is on continuously. As for the second question, not really sure how to check. Had a quick look at the manual but nothing looks obvious. It is a Remeha Avanta Plus - Italian I believe.

    Not hot enough!

The hall rad does not have a thermostat. The room thermostat clicks around 18/19C even though it is set at 25C.

    Not hot enough!

Forget to say that the room thermostat (in the hall) is set to 25 C.

    Not hot enough!

Hi We have just moved into a newly built house, nicely insulated etc. etc. etc. The problem is that although I have had the central heating on 24 hours a day for 8 days now, the temperature in the lounge does not get above 18.5 C. The thermostats on the rads are on full '5'. Other rooms on...
