    European to UK plug rewiring?

The same thing happened to my missus GHD's. She is a mobile hairdresser so it was getting embarrassing having to hold the cable by the plug to enable them to heat up. Was a bit concerned at the change of the 2 pin to a 3 pin with no earth. I cut the cable a couple of inches short of the EU...

    Loft insulation

"the loft floor was insulated about 20 years ago"...do you know what with? Is it boarded/part boarded? "Under the roof tiles?"...not sure what you mean by this. The tarpaulin stuff, is it papery? Between my roof joists I have, what seems to be, roll insulation, secured in place by a...

    Increasing loft insulation

Over the holidays I insulated my loft with roll. I wanted to start with a clean base so basically used a dustpan and brush and a few bin bags to get rid of any loose items which were between the joists. I'm not sure how much your Dyson would appretiate sucking up loose fill. If you can...

    Increasing loft insulation

I've read you can just lay on top on loose fill. Personally I'd start again, unless there is loads of it up there. You do need to make sure all cables are running above any isulation though to prevent possible over heating.

    Loft, Purlin, Insulation...HOW.....HELP......ETC!!!!

Well my christmas was fun, with me insulating the loft! I ended up forgetting the idea of 'loose fill' and just bought some 100mm thick roll. The gap from the eaves to the big board shown was actually about 5ft! I managed to slide the insulation underneath and prod it further down with a...

    Loft, Purlin, Insulation...HOW.....HELP......ETC!!!!

Originally I thought exactly the same, that it was a simple 12mm bit of ply, but I felt the bottom of it and it was 4" thick. I can't check the full thickness all the way up as I cant get behind it. Like you said though, if I drill a hole in the middle then I should get some idea. I'll...

    Loft, Purlin, Insulation...HOW.....HELP......ETC!!!!

But is it not structural? That piece is 4" thick (see diagram). This is my problem. The only way I can think of getting loose fill behind it is by running/tipping it down some piping/guttering or sorts over the top of the purlin.

Anyone? Anyone seen this before and can offer advise on insulating behind it? Anyone? Dust? After more hunting, is this piece called a 'knee wall'?

    Loft, Purlin, Insulation...HOW.....HELP......ETC!!!!

Hello all.... :D After looking at various pieces of information I have finally decided I need to post something. I am insulating my loft. Not a giant loft and I have no intension of converting it to anything other than storage space. The only thing is, before I board it I need to lay...
