    nailing mini stonewold roof tiles

I am about to tile my single storey extension with Redland mini stonewolds. I have heard different views about nailing the tiles, from every third row to be nailed to just the verge tiles to just the occasional tile requiring nailing. I have had a look at the Redland zonal fixing guide and...

    Movement in new cavity wall

Yes, your absolutely right Noseall and this was the reason for the high level steel to prevent the roof from "spreading". I was just surprised to see the movement in the wall I earlier described which will eventually take this steel.

    Movement in new cavity wall

Thanks Noseall/Shytalkz, You have eased my worries somewhat. I was mostly concerned as the internal skin of the gable end will be taking the weight of a steel at ridge height which will in turn carry the weight of the roof. (this has been specified as there will be no roof joists to tie the...

Timber stud as a fire wall?

I am about to begin an extension that requires "stealing" roughly 1m from the rear of my garage. This 1m stolen from the garage will become part of a new utility room. As the new wall seperating the end of the garage and the new utility room needs to be a fire wall to meet building regs the...

converting an external drain to an internal drain

Many thanks noseall, mike So what are we saying? do away with a trap and put a sweeping rest bend on and vertical pipe up to slab level and then either the spigot or some kind of adaptor to seal the waste pipe and accept the 40mm waste from the kitchen? I guess whatever I do I will have to...

converting an external drain to an internal drain

I am about to extend my kitchen. Currently the drain that collects the waste from the sink, washing machine e.t.c is directly outside the kitchen underneath the window. When I do the extension this drain will therefore be inside the new kitchen. I want to keep the drain in the same position as...
