Freezing house, drained system to change valve now rads cold

I was checking rads most of the day and they never got hot but I didnt check the HW - there was a tank full of hot water from Economy 7 so I wouldnt know if there was any heat from the boiler. I'm going to try and post a photo of the setup if it works - it might make more sense to you than my...

Freezing house, drained system to change valve now rads cold

No there don't seem to be any bleed valves. There is some sort of copper venting device about 40mm round at the highest point but no bleed valves on it, I think its automatic? It is on a T piece from the 22mm pipe going into the HW tank, but you cant actually do anything with it

Freezing house, drained system to change valve now rads cold

I dont know if they are bleed valves or just isolation valves to facilitate removing the pump because there are small square ends (6mm square) which you could turn with a little spanner

Freezing house, drained system to change valve now rads cold

the pipe that comes out of the top of the pump is hotter than the one fed from underneath. The top pipe goes into the motorised 3 way valve. It looks like you can isolate valves either side of the pump to remove it - would that help?

Freezing house, drained system to change valve now rads cold

Bit worrying - the body of the pump (Grundfos) is actually to hot to hold - in fact it's actually hotter than the pies going into and out of it - I wonder if the npump is seizing up / knackered? Any suggestions?

Blimey Charlie the pump is really hot so I have switched it off and will wait for it to cool down before messing with it. The rads are still cold though!

Freezing house, drained system to change valve now rads cold

HELP! I've spent all weekend messing with my (oil) central heating and now it doesnt work! I drained the system to change aTRV which seemed to go ok but when I fired the bolier up the outlet pipe got very hot but none of the rads warmed up. I have bled every valve several times - all the air...
