washing machine and dishwasher both cold fill

A word of warning on the 'Y' connector. My girlfriend had one of those fitted for her dishwasher and washing machine, but it was under stress because the hose was only just long enough. This carried on weeping for many months (probably years) and caused a rot problem as it was unseen. Do...

    Boiler Cold Fill

Thanks. The robot tech I spoke to at Vaillant said that the boiler would shut down, overpump snd suffer from air locks unless it was plumbed EXACTLY as per the manual. I thought that he was probably just CYA

toilet cistern keeps running but does not fill

You remove the flush buttons by pushing and holding down one button whilst wiggling the other one out. Once you've removed the first button (usually the larger), you can remove the second. Next there will then be a screw that needs removing before you can remove the outer ring or cistern lid...

    Boiler Electrics

Sorry, I realise that strictly speaking, zoning only applies to bathrooms but common sense would dictate that you don't want the isolator reachable from the basin. Is there no regulation that affects this? At the moment, the isolator is hanging in the breeze as the plasterer removed the old...

I think you'll find the answers in Building Regulations Part H (Drainage and Waste Disposal)

    Boiler Electrics

That was my thought too (water and electricity do not mix) and I guess that everything would have to be within 3m, especially when you consider that the three way valve only comes with a 1m lead... The cloakroom is quite small, with the boiler mounted above the loo and basin. I'm thinking...

    Boiler Electrics

I'm in the process of getting the wall replastered and having a new boiler fitted in my cloakroom. I have a quick query about where the 3A double pole switch, programmer and wiring centre are usually fitted. Are there any regulations that cover this, or can I put them where I like (eg...
