Extra supply and meter for garage ?

Ah...just googled ..Distrib Net Ops. - get it now. Yes worth a try, as power supply is under pavement, inline with garage entrance, and would only require 4 metres of ginnel cobbling to be dug up. Maybe cheaper than the £1100 set-up. Anyone else any experience in this?

Extra supply and meter for garage ?

Matthew Sorry guys, I don't know what the DNO is - I'm a newbie to this field. ...but yes, £1100 is more than I thought. Please let me know where I can get 3core 16mm SWA for anywhere near £2 per metre - I thought tlc-direct.co.uk wa the cheapest at (approx) £3.50 per metre.

Thanks Lectrician. I guess everyone's at the pub - it is a Friday night ! Is there some rule that each premises should only have one supply and consequently one meter? Has anyone paid out for a electric utility company to install a new supply and meter?

Guys Your advice is much appreciated. :D FLameport - I was starting to think the same about 2 core, but I'm going to play it safe and go for 3 core 16mm AND have an earthing rod at the garage. I think I'll go for MCB and RCDs and both ends. Total overkill. (The garage is all...

there's a garage at the bottom of the garden...

Thanks guys. Just two points to clarify, I've just checked again, and you're right, there is no fuse between the meter and the main CU - just the henley block. I seem to remember being told 6mm was too small, 10mm about right (but with no margin), and goldilocks favourite was 16mm. Would...
