Just a thought being a Renault, does the car have a BCM (UCH) module like a Clio does? This controls electrical items in the car, maybe this could be the cause of issues?

Pretty standard 50’s setup this, originally would of been VIR tails going through conduit to next door, there is a separate 60a fuse on your cutout which is busbarred to the live side to feed the looped supply. These are a problem if that fuse blows and no one is in to get access to change it!

I doubt it will be split conc, the service head is far too old. It will be PILCSTA, just with no earth at the consumers end.

That’s right, and also years ago the earth was provided by lead water mains and since those have mostly been replaced with plastic, many houses are left with no earth

I’d guess it’s like this because otherwise you’d have a long run of cable under floorboards etc only protected by a substation fuse which isn’t safe. They must of moved the cu/meter position further into the building and one time. Might still be DNO property.

That cutout has been remade recently- BADLY. whoever has done it doesn’t seem of have removed the old bitumen and used a heat shrink breakout and tubing to seal the cable and prevent any further mess happening, if there are any noises the. This could indicate arcing. Call 105, it will will need...

I can tell you exactly what is happening- the original pitch filled cutout has been replaced with that one. Instead of blowing it down properly and removing all the pitch and heat shrinking it up, they have just removed enough to re terminate the live and neutral. Now it has started dripping off...

You’d have to get in contact with the DNO really, there are plenty of places around with PME supplies that shouldn’t be. The problem is that there isn’t anything stopping someone using the PME earthing terminal on a cutout regardless whether it is permitted due to the building type etc...

I’m not sure if there is anything that ‘stops’ this, however TNCS (PME) supplies are not allowed in steel frame buildings for this reason, as in the case of the combined neutral/earth being lost, the metalwork would become live. There are places that have these sort of supplies though. Nowadays...

To the DNO that meter box is fine, it is (I assume) a lockable, weatherproof and secure location for the cutout and is the homeowners responsibility to replace. The meter fitter could easily fit a meter board over the top of the metal one in there so get over it being metal. Sounds like it...
