    One thing I was not aware of, and I think i've found this is meant to be correct - I was just buzzing out my connections and noticed that the neutral is earthed at the ceiling rose - taking this back it appears this is direct from the feed. Is this correct?

    OK, it didn't like that! As of yesterday, all cables in place but not wired, feed was the only connection all upstairs lights worked fine. Added this connection (exactly as diagram, no switches or lamps wired in yet), put the power back on, only half the lights upstairs work...

    Hi, Yeah, should have made it clearer. The bottom of the rose is just meant to show where the lamp connects to , but these are actually connect to the terminals above - added in picture below: All correct?

    Converting US wall light to UK

    Length of bulb is important as it is the length of the light it illuminates. If I can't get a UK bulb, then I will probably not have to worry about the lamp holder. Anyone know of a reasonably priced step down converter?

    Thanks for the link. Unfortunately the only bulb which is closest to the correct length is a blacklight bulb.
