Poor hot water Worcester Bosch 24i

I can't blame the installer or the previous elderly owner because I think the wet room was installed before the change of boiler so there wouldn't have been a bath. The 24kw would have been fine for a sink, washbasin and 5 radiators. Again, thanks for the replies.

Poor hot water Worcester Bosch 24i

Thanks for your prompt replies. My daughter has now tried reducing the flow at the tap and now has hot water with steam! Would it be best to reduce the flow going in to the boiler (I think there's an isolating valve) or is it best to leave things as they are. I can't see the point of...

Poor hot water Worcester Bosch 24i

My daughter has recently moved in to a small 2 bedroom house with a four year old central heating system. The boiler is a Worcester Bosch 24i and all the radiators were replaced as well. I have just removed disabled wet room equipment and re-instated a bath connecting up to the original capped...

    Re-roof. Old or new tiles?

Hi. I need my 1930's semi with hip end re-roofing. One roofer has said it's ok to re-use the clay tiles and another says it's best to replace completely and use new concrete tiles. He said after selling the old tiles there's not much difference in cost. ( I haven't had the quote yet.) Who's right?

Builders are supplying and fitting new internal and one external JELD-WEN Advance-line oak veneer doors in my daughters house. I'll be doing the finishing and don't know whether to use a water based high build stain or oil based. The instructions say a "proprietary high build stain or paint...

Digital TV problems with Philips set-Help please!

Further to my last post, Philips now say that a system reset should cure most sets. When the set is on press and hold the "menu" button on the tv and hold for several seconds until the screen goes blank. Wait until the OSD comes on. Press "OK" to start a full scan, analogue and digital, and all...

Digital TV problems with Philips set-Help please!

I am a recently retired TV engineer. I have a similar set to this and so has my daughter and we both have the same problem. It is a software fault and going by past experience, Philips will not be resolving it. When I was working my employer was a main Philips dealer and we could not get...

samsung lcd tv screen problems. please help. vid included.

This looks like the LCD screen has gone. Try tapping along the top left hand corner at the back. It could be the ribbon cable that's attached to the screen all the way along the top. It is not repairable.

    TV issue

Acoustic Solutions Tv's are "supermarket specials" If it is out of guarantee you will have no chance of repairing it as there is no technical back up, no spares available and no remote controls. They are imported as cheaply as possible for supermarkets to get you through their doors.

    Mendip Transmitter Reception Problems

The Mendip transmitter is not working very well at the moment although nobody will admit that. It is running on some temporary channels and some muxes are on low power. It probably wont be resolved until at least September but more likely not until 2013. Freeview will always have problems due...

    Demise of the TV engineer

After 4 decades in the trade I have never known the TV/Video/Audio repair trade to be so bad. I used to repair 7 or 8 items a day and now I'm down to 1 or 2 a week so its time to switch off the soldering iron and pack up. Everyone wants to buy as cheap as possible so prices have eroded every...

    volume control on tv

You cannot attach a potentiometer to the speaker cables. You will alter the impedance of the speaker circuit and may seriously overload the audio output IC causing it to overheat and fail. Volume control is done nowadays by digital increments with + and - buttons or via remote. The circuit...

low power aerial signals when sky box in standby

I've now replaced the sockets with a different make and everything works ok now. I cannot see any reason why the old sockets would cause a problem.

    Lead gas pipe to copper

Fitting of the fire surround hearth and back panel to my already prepared hearth and chimney breast and fitting my existing living flame gas fire was £320 inc VAT. The surround has been fitted well, nice and central and level (almost, about 1-2mm over 48"). The hearth was bed on mortar as the...

    Lead gas pipe to copper

Thanks for all your replies. We've decided to keep the tap as it is and not paint the copper pipe. The skirting board profile is not available (1930's house) and if damaged when removing will cause problems. Going to the shop today to negotiate a reduction.
