    Weve just had a engineer out and hes said that it is indeed a scaled up heat exchanger (we do live in a HW area). Apparently we have to have a chemical added to the system to clear it out then the system drained and refilled.

    Just checked the showerhead and it looks fine, no scale buildup. Ive just checked the taps again too in the bath+sink again and it turns out that they are actually doing the same thing, running hot then cold. :?
