Please help, no heating despite three "repairs"!

PMSL! A lovely, absolutely lovely engineer came out today, the same one who came out twice last week (I wasn't here at the time). He took out the motorised valve, said it was all scaled up and cleaned it up, put it back (he did have a new part with him and said it wasn't needed)...

Please help, no heating despite three "repairs"!

Sorry not sure what you mean, the thermostat has the batteries removed and is not functioning, it is an ex thermostat as far as I'm concerned, I'll be putting the thing in the bin tomorrow. The boiler doesn't fire all of the time, just sometimes after a full power down and reset. Sod's...

Please help, no heating despite three "repairs"!

I will, thank you. It did seem it was a bit noisier than usual but now it is working (for now) it is back to normal noise-wise. No chance that it could be something daft like air in the pump? Worth trying anyway?

Please help, no heating despite three "repairs"!

Thanks Tony. Difficulty is suggesting these things to the so-called experts, especially when you're a girl  You won't believe it but the stupid thing is now pumping out heat, full on (no thermostat) and has been for over two hours, longest time it has worked for several days :roll...

Please help, no heating despite three "repairs"!

Yes, DHW is fine. I was thinking something like that. Or what about the PCB? Would the DHW still be functioning ok if it was a PCB fault? I've pressed the "heating on" button again and for once the thing has come back on (usually the only wauy of getting it back on once it has heated up...

Please help, no heating despite three "repairs"!

Scrap the idea about the hot water tap. The green "heating on" light on the control panel has gone out :( Heating has gone off. This is what it keeps doing, when it does start to heat up, it just turns itself off one the rads get hot :?:

Please help, no heating despite three "repairs"!

Thanks both. He categorically stated that the external EXV would not have the pre-heat function. This is a British Gas engineer we're talking about  Am I right in thinking that now I've got the heating fired up and working (which is more than he managed) and the problem is this...

Please help, no heating despite three "repairs"!

We have a Baxi 105e boiler, no more than four years old. Expansion vessel replaced 10 days ago, we knew it was on the way out, pressure needed to be topped up every week then every few days, heating otherwise functioning fine. Had new wall-mounted expansion vessel added and new thermostat...

Problems with Baxi 105e combi despite new expansion vessel

I didn't actually touch the boiler at all today, heating has been on and off, getting hot then going off, getting slightly warm then going off, or not responding to the control panel at all. I've messed about with the thermostat, reset it next to the control panel etc and eventually, each...

Problems with Baxi 105e combi despite new expansion vessel

Thank you. I will try that, but I have just turned the thermostat down rather than turn the heating off again (I'm scared to turn it off in case we can't get it on again) and the temp in the radiators has reduced, so the thermostat is either working, or the boiler has conked out again. I...

    central heating not working

Not being funny like, but I've posted about my boiler problem today, been as clear as I can about make/model/problem, and had no replies :P This bloke has said his mate's boiler is making a funny noise, he's already got several peeps willing to help :?

Problems with Baxi 105e combi despite new expansion vessel

Getting really desperate here folks. I've taken the thermostat off the wall and set it next to the control panel -- but still the receiving light on the wireless box isn't communicating (ie it isn't flashing "receive" every so often as it should). It was when it was fitted on Thursday, but I...

Problems with Baxi 105e combi despite new expansion vessel

Hope someone can help please. Had an engineer out in the week to replace expansion vessel on Baxi 105e combi boiler as the pressure kept dropping - we knew the expansion vessel was on the way out and had already had it pumped up once. He mounted the new vessel on the wall for easier access...

I think we have a major problem

We don't know, they weren't allowed to tell us! We did ask! But it was four days work, the first day they removed all boards and joists affected and all rubble below the floor (it's a through lounge and was knocked through and like many houses a lot of the rubble was left below the floor)...

I think we have a major problem

Just to thank you all for your advice and to let you know we have now had the problem fixed and the decorators finish the job tomorrow :D Hope to have a new carpet throughout in the next couple of weeks but we're waiting for the insurance company to sort that out. Insurance company covered...

    Laying new underground (rainwater) pipes

We had to, we have a pressed concrete cobblestone drive, there was no other way of getting to the pipe, other than digging out the trees. There wasn't an alternative -- but it will be so much better without them blocking out the light anyway, it was worth it. The trees run right along the...

    Laying new underground (rainwater) pipes

Have a major problem with dry rot in our front room floor, the cause is the pipes taking away water from the gutters/downpipe at the front of the house being completely bunged up with roots, so the water is coming down the downpipe and just sitting in the ground outside the house. We've dug...

Help needed desperately please, re-routing guttering

Thanks will be ringing building control anyway tomorrow to see if they have ideas, will mention that. Insurance is paying out on the dry rot/damage etc inside the house (new floor and joists, the floor is collapsing now as well as having a huge hole in it) but not on the cause, the hedge...
