    on the downstairs switch i have: Red wires to the Commons and Blacks to the L1's. There is also a wire crossing from one common to the other (forming a bridge if you like). This is how the old one was wired, al least i think it was :oops: maybe this switch is the trouble ? Thanks

    Appologies, it should have read 80 Amp RCD. I would rather not move the Feed to the Non RCD side. The SWA is not protected, but clipped to outside walls, running down the side of my house. So, would a regular Metal Clad Enclosure with the rated MCB's i stated be adequate ? Like this one ...
