    Vaillant Heating Controls - Bewildering

I did look into the sizing, as you say better to have boiler in the right range. The odd thing is that the next one down in size (24 KW) appears to have a minimum output of 7.6 KW which is higher than that quoted for the 30KW unit which quotes 7.2KW? I've got 20 radiators with separate 22mm...

    Vaillant Heating Controls - Bewildering

Thanks for quick reply. Why replace? 14 years old, I need to move it as part of building changes. I'm not doing this myself so as the associated costs are fairly high (lots of pipework / hot water tank move) I thought I'd bite the bullet with a new boiler at same time. Plus I've convinced myself...

    Vaillant Heating Controls - Bewildering

Currently have an old Ecotec 428 (c2007) and am replacing with a new Ecotec 430. I've been very happy with old system, nothing wrong with it but replacing / moving location as part of a bigger project. I retrofitted weather compensation myself, its quirky but has worked fine for many years. I...

Vaillant VRC 430f cycling issues - a solution?

I can understand your thinking but my question would be "why try to maintain a preset flow temp (39 deg) if the desired room temp has already been reached"?

Vaillant VRC 430f cycling issues - a solution?

Thanks UpgradeME. I understand the principle of modulating the water temp by using the VR 430 with external temp sensor. This has been working well for me for over a year. So, the boiler can modulate according to return flow temp. The Target 'set point' can vary according to external...

Vaillant VRC 430f cycling issues - a solution?

Smokebox I actually quite like the blue back lit display....just don't have a nice discrete place to hide it. If it were designed to be recessed into a wall it might we acceptable but instead it stands very proud...probably to allow for accurate temp reading. Don't see what this would...

Vaillant VRC 430f cycling issues - a solution?

Purely for aesthetics. The VR81 is about the size of a standard Room Stat, the 430 is just too big, ugly and confusing to use. In theory at least the VR81 will allow my wife to turn the temperature up, she'd never be able to drive the 430.

Vaillant VRC 430f cycling issues - a solution?

I have been running a VR65 with a VR430 and external temp sensor for around 18 months. My approach so far has been to run with a heat curve of 1.5 and then leave the heating on 24 his a day in Winter (night setback to 15 deg). I found that with standard Rads, I had to set the Minimum Flow...

    Vaillant ecoTEC DHW Temperature Setting

Thanks Kevin Understand the VR 65 concept but should I also change max boiler flow temp to stop / reduce the anti-cycling when the DHW cylinder temp approaches 60 degrees? The factory default is 75 degrees but service mode allows this to be increased - my simplistic thinking is that higher...

    Vaillant ecoTEC DHW Temperature Setting

I've had an ecoTEC for the past 2 years with no complaints. It is configured with Open Vent in S Plan' configuration. DHW is via Megaflo pressurised cylinder. With rising gas prices, like many people I've been looking at efficiencies etc and as such I am looking to fit an external weather...

Vaillant VRT 430 - Heating Curves

Looking at retrofiting a VRT 430 + VR65 to my ecoTEC 428 boiler. I've been reading through the setup instructions and whilst I understand the concept of linking internal house temperature / external temperature / boiler flow temp - I don't understand what assumptions have been factored in to...

Vaillant VRT 360 - Can This Be Recessed Into Wall

Hi Simon Thanks for that, it makes a lot of sense. In hindsight I don't think that I'll gain too much by using the thermocouple, the reality is that the DHW doesn't cost me too much, the heating is where most of my cash goes. I think I'll stick with the standard 'cut out' thermostat...

Vaillant VRT 360 - Can This Be Recessed Into Wall

Hi Simon Thanks for the reply. Having done a bit more research, looks like the VRC430 + VR 65 is the way to go? Boiler is ecoTEC 428 by the way. VRC 430 can be located out of site and then i would have to 'trust' the fact that it can drive the system based on external temperature. My...

Vaillant VRT 360 - Can This Be Recessed Into Wall

Looking at Vaillant VRT 360 The dimensions are quite large but it is the depth that concerns me - 34 mm. Does anyone know if this unit can be recessed into a wall or whether it has to be surface mounted? The installation instructions on the website don't state but hint at surface mounting...
