Outdoor downlights in soffitt, PIR & timer query?

Thanks for the replys, I hadn't considered having them on all night, good idea though. will have to consult the boss (wife!) Is there any brand/make of PIR that you recommend? Presumably if they are low voltage the cost should be minimal having them dimmed all night? Cheers

    Packing above RSJ?

Thanks for the reply, when you say fully loaded, do you mean, put in wedges, remove the acro's/needles, and then pack? The RSJ is 203x203x46, I didn't think it would move when loaded as it seems huge!

    Packing above RSJ?

Hi guys, I have just installed a 3.5m RSJ to part of the frontbof my house. I am getting different opinions on packing it out. Some say use slate then pack with a dry mix cement. Others say don't use slate as it can give pressure points. Others say use a non during grout. Please advise the...

Hi guys, Can't find any information on how to strap my single skin gable wall to the roof. I know with a cavity wall the end of the restraint strap gets bedded inbetween the skins but my garage is single skin. Is it OK to screw it on the inside of the gable end or is there a special strap...

    extension floor/slab cock up??

OK so the celotex is going to be OK, what about that damp trapped beneath the two layers of DPM? Is that OK? Is it just like the ground being damp underneath the floor construction, it doesn't matter thats why you have a DPM? Im trying not to loose sleep over this but obviously not being a...

    extension floor/slab cock up??

Thanks for your reply, The thing I was thinking is, even though I managed to puncture a couple of holes and allow the water to drain out, it is still going to be relatively damp. It won't be able to dry out so is it OK leaving it like that? I am probably over worrying but would hate to have...

    Garage conversion, help needed

Woody, thanks for the reply, I understand all of what you have said, doing it that way will eliminate having a cavity. As the garage is semi-integral part of the outside wall is cavity, then goes on to single skin, it is approx 190mm deep, so is it ok to build the stud work off the floor as...
