I have just had installed a Baxi duotec 40 combi boiler and it is controlled with a Honeywell wireless thermostat( DT92E). I have been told that the boiler has a frost free setting and will fire if the temperature of the incoming water is below a certain temperature, 5 degrees Celsius I think...

I thought an extension lead was OK for a temporary connection e.g. cutting the grass but was frowned upon for permanent appliances such as fridges and freezers.

I will have to move my freezer to accommodate a new boiler. The freezer cable in the new position will not reach the socket. What are the options, an extension lead ( I don't think so), connectors or should I replace the whole cable by calling in an electrician?

Where did I say anything about 70 degrees Celsius water. This assumes that halving the flow rate of the water, doubles the temperature of the water. Is this true? My original question was a simple one, namely, which boiler would be better at providing a deep hot bath. No one seems to know...

Reducing the flow rate will cause a temperature rise. Any idea what that would be in the former boiler if the flow rate was halved to 10l/min?

The Worcester Bosch Greenstar Highflow 440CDi boiler is only a 29.5 kW boiler delivering at 20 l/min and the Greenstar 42CDi is a 42 kW delivering at 17.2 l/min. Which would be better at delivering the hottest bath water?

Many thanks. I thought the relationship had to be linear although the technical people I spoke to at Baxi, Worcester Bosch and Viessmann's said otherwise. They said the water would get hotter by reducing flow rate but limitations set by the boiler would stop a linear relationship. If...

I spoke to the technical department at Baxi. Your equation is quite unhelpful and really makes little sense. It would be sensible to specify units. Please reply with some worked arithmetic as I cannot make any sense of it.

Thanks for the info. So if I went for a Worcester Bosch 42 CDI with a flow rate of 15l/min I should be able to fill a bath fairly quickly in winter time with water at about 50 degrees C? I assume the flow rate is controlled at the bath tap rather than adjusting any boiler control.

I do assure you that my wife has a bath at 46°C and I do no want to replace our system with one which delivers lukewarm baths in winter time. You mention that Combis can deliver water at up to 50°C but could they do this in a Scottish winter with an incoming main's temperature of 4°C.
