Just ordered a replacement PDV. Should I remove stuffing box and use silicon grease on the threads? I wouldn't have thought it was necessary on a new part and don't really want to disturb it but maybe it's common practice. I checked for tightness when saw it was leaking but it wouldn't go up...

Spoke too soon. New PDV leaking round the stuffing box. Spotted it before it got to electrics. Mike

Update: Electrics all working inc. neon switch. Have just got new black plastic PDV . Couple of questions - I thought the two small water pipes would be threaded but see they must be a push fit held in by the securing plate. Do they need any sealant ? And is it necessary to drain the boiler...

Update. To remove top - two plastic fittings at back - slide top of them inwards and pull out. Top then slides forward and lifts up allowing access to two more side panel screws. Mike

I cannot get the side panel off!! All 5 screws front and two at back out but won't budge out of top. Can't work out what secures the top. It's an under counter Whirlpool not integrated. About ready to reach for a tin opener! Thanks Mike

Water valve is switched on. Is there any way of testing flow meter and the water indicator? I would think flow meter is attached to incoming water supply somewhere, and where is water indicator? I can't find any diagrams on Google. Thanks for your patience, Mike
