I have done CP12's with a gas engineer I have been working with. I was workign with one gas engineer a while back, and he was very "dodgy" - was gas safe reg but didn't tightness test properley, missd loads out. Being gas safe reg doesn't make you "brilliant" - it just means you are gas...

thanks :) i heard a while ago (on here or ??) that hydrogen can cause the same problem??? just trying to think of any causes I might have missed?!!

have a quick question - what are the causes (possible causes) of a pressure gauge on a sealed primary system (eg combi) falling over time: so far i can think of: seepage, slowly over time, leak somewhere in the pipework/rad valves/rads/aav, diverter valve, heat ex etc, inside boiler...

Thanks for all your help How do I join the combustion chamber as I am not gas safe reg at the mo ... acs reg in ccn1, cen1, ckr1, wat1, htr1 and cpa1. paul, when you say it is difficult to change parts, do you mean as in fiddly? and do you mean dangerous as in water-wise?

thanks a lot for your help paul, i really appreciate it. so when you first start doing boiler breakdown's it takes a lot longer - until you get to know the boilers more/common faults.... and then you gain the experience? one other q - are parts hard to change on a boiler? i have never...

yeah i did hear about flame rectification being changed due to the ac / dc problem. i know thermocouples are old, but still quite a few about, mine is as well!! the old type with boiler stat, gas vale, thermocouple and that's it. just a s/l from cyl stat/3 port mid to activate it

Paul, what do you mean in this case you will never have a failure with this pot? when the ntc's fail, are the most common to fail wet pocket types due to sludge etc sticking to them? with ntc's - do you need the specific one for the boiler or are there universal ones then?? always...
