    Building decking

So the existing block paving will end where the decking ends so the thought process is that sitting on the edge of the paving would make it vulnerable at that end as its gonna go straight from decking to play bark. Which is why I was thinking of using one of the two methods to secure the middle...

    Building decking

Yes it is. It's currently block paving, and a slight slope and we're decking over it. But raised it up a few cm to match the conservatory height

    Building decking

Good point regarding the treatment. Yeah span tables I read point to it being borderline within at actually 2.8m but I don't really want the bounce. Under it is block paving on a slight slope so could potentially use that to my advantage so dig down for the end beam and use 5 posts cemented...

    Building decking

Thanks for the reply. It's 4x2 tantalised/c24 timber for joists and beams. I've attached pic of birds mouth (if thats the right terminology). So gonna do this so the weights carried by the timber and not a bolt I'm just not sure how many supports to do for the end beam. For the center...

    insulating single skin dwarf wall

It has 3 outside single skin dwarf walls. Outside is a waterproof breather and pvc cladding. Inside though, one wall is too close to the house door to offer any battens greater than 25mm.... is no air gap gonna be catastrophic if I use 25mm insulation? Or should I just vapour barrier and clad...

    Through bolt anchor not grabbing

Haha its funny you say that as I posted previously a question about my ledger board (not on here) and got beasted for using m12 on it so removed them and upped it to m16. I've just ordered some high tensile galvanised m16 stud and resin as well so will be drilling 18mm hole now. . They are...

    Through bolt anchor not grabbing

Also does the resin have to be used on specific studs or can I use it with the anchors I have? Has anybody on here used it before and if so did you do it with the material in situ or did you do it with the material being mounted removed?

    Through bolt anchor not grabbing

I'm fairly confident they are not air bricks tbh as I'd feel it when drilling in. And also looking at the rubble removed from where a patio door was cut below the ledger.

    Through bolt anchor not grabbing

Thank, I think thats what I'm gonna have to do. The ledger is already in place with a few anchors that seemed to go in perfect so can they be installed in situ? From what I gather I can just insert the nozzle through the timber in to the masonry hole and fill it up, then insert the stud and...

    Through bolt anchor not grabbing

Thanks For all the replies guys. As usual you guys are amazing and helping a keen dryer. Just need to get my timber roof on so I can make use of the conservatory. So I think I found the issue. The bricks I believe are fly Ash bricks (correct name?) so anchor bolts I suspect I just causing it to...

    Through bolt anchor not grabbing

Used a 16mm drill piece in to brickwork. All that happens is the whole anchor pulls back out instead of just the tapered but in to the side. Instructions say 16mm hole. What do you reckon try a 15mm hole or am I missing a trick?

    Bolts for header/ledger

Attaching a 4.8m 6x2 to the house wall. Was gonna use 400mm spacings to coincide with the joists. But what anchor bolts should I use and what size please? Is m12 sufficient or do I need to go bigger? Looking at these...

    What size header for roof

Just wondering what size header I should be using and what bolts and spacings for installing it. The roof will be approx 10degrees spanning 3.1m and a width of 4.7m. The 4.7m header will be attached to a brick house wall and will be using 6x2 @ 400mm spacing attached to the header with hangers...
