    Socket blown

I think I overloaded one of the double sockets in the garage. There was a pop and everything plugged into the left socket went off. The right side still works . None of the switches have tripped. After a minutes, I tried the left socket and it works but the on off button feels really spongy...

Spring hinge for top-hung kitchen cabinet (Ed.)

We have a cupboard that opens upwards and has a spring on each side. One had snapped. Is there any way to find out what the spring is to buy a replacement? Obviously I can measure the length but how do I get the tension?

    Downlight

Arghhh I bought an entire unit but the fitting is too big for the driver. Could anyone look at the photo of the one I removed and let me know what the size is?

    Downlight

I've found the fitting but they seem to have bulbs not led. Ideally I only want the led pad and wire

    Downlight

So the triangular downlight has stopped working. I've removed the light and tested it on another driver and it doesn't work so much be the wire or pad that is faulty. However, I can't seem to find a replacement anywhere I have attached photos. The wire says 12DC 2.6w. Any idea where I can...

Why would the fuse box have an unused circuit breaker, is that common?

    Garage power

I'll try in the morning. Assume that as long as I turn off the main switch to the right, I'm safe to go? I've got a current tester so will use that on the screws to be sure

    Garage power

I have no idea if I am honest. The power went off in the garage to plugs and lights. How would I check this? I assumed that as both have failed, it must be the electricity going into the garage rather than the garage itself

    Garage power

Thanks, Yes we had the whole lot tested and had the lighting circuit in the entire house rewired 6 years ago. The garage has it's own fuse box. Last weekend, we had rather a lot running off the garage plugs (outdoor heaters, sound system). The power suddenly went off in the garage. Both the...

    Damaged Door Metal Thing

No, the latch is the standard one. There is no impact as far as I can see. The metal bit that has now snapped off the original and the replacement used to trap the latch in place. Now the door wobbles a lot until you lift the handle up to lock the multi points, but it still doesn't feel that secure

    Damaged Door Metal Thing

The metal strip that holds the latch in place has broken off twice now. Never had this in 30 years with the old door.
